Black..... We Call Each Other Black....

Okay Kiddies... It's been a minute.. But guess who came back to say "HEYYYY!!!" It's me.. I'm back.... I want to talk about a topic that I feel so PASSIONATELY about and one that gives me ENDLESS migraines... What is it???? You ask.. Well I'll tell you....BEING BLACK.... I love being of African American American descent... but I also must acknowledge my Caucasian blood as I am of mixed heritage.. But I have a few gripes about African Americans... I think that BET and the BET Awards underscore everything that I find negative about BLACK people.. I have to first explain the correlation of the photograph that is included here, and the title of this installment.Years ago Diana Ross and Berry Gordy named each other "Black" a name who's origin is said to have stemmed from people feeling that she was NOT Black enough, so they began to call each other Black as a sort of inside joke.. kinda thumbing their noses at all the people who saw her as a sellout... Anywho... back to my words.. My first complaint is that we as a people handicap ourselves by buying into and lapping up the quote unquote Black culture and stereotypical imagery that WHITE OWNED BET depicts.. We beat a path to our television sets to watch College Hill and any COON dog and pony shows that are put on by this channel.... Instead of settling down to turn to AMC or even PBS to learn something so that we might be able to compete in a world where we are already the underdog. We feed into this and anyone who is slightly to the left or tries to delve into more culturally stimulating things.. we put down and admonish for trying to be "WHITE". SAD.. Then the way we speak... In Black culture it is a sin to use proper grammar.. because again you are attempting to be WHITE. This is a hold over from the days of Slavery when education was only afforded to either the White Master's Children orrrr the babies like myself who were LUCKY enough to be born MULATTO (half Black/Half White). So now some 200 years AFTER slavery we still, like the stupid field Negro, brand the kid that reads and tries to educate himself (and be more than the sagging pants thug or back woods COUNTRY negro) as someone trying to be WHITE... DEPRESSING.. As I look at my so called culture.. I just shake my head because I see such a sickening state of affairs.. Another prime example.. I popped into my favorite RECORD store for some browsing time and another piece of Diana Ross vinyl to add to my collection... and I couldn't get in for the SURPLUS OF COONS.. crowded in there snapping up....MICHAEL JACKSON ALBUMS AND CD'S.... people that i would bet my life savings teased this man mercilessly when he was alive.. now behaving as though we lost our world leader... PREDICTABLE.. As BLACK people tend to be.. Our Black performers.. Who is there to look to now for our young kids to want to grow up to become.. Well we have Oprah.. yes.. But of the new crop of celebs.. we have no one.. Gay Black men feel Beyonce is the way to go when looking toward the stars.. THE GIRL CANNOT SPEAK properly but this is what we point to to say "aspire to be this" EAT POPEYES AND GET REAL FAT LITTLE GIRLS.. AND DANCE AROUND SHAKING YOUR ASS AND MARRY A FORMER DRUG SLINGER TURNED RAPPER.. that is definitely what I would want my little girl to turn out like... Lets see... OH YES.. DRIVING DOWN THE STREETS blasting what passes as music while leaning out of the drivers side windows of our cars.. this is considered the very epitome of cool in Black Culture.. Eating ridiculously fattening foods never bothering to exercise (especially women) and getting FAT(thick for black women) so that as a female u are between the sizes of 16-24... THAT...is what's considered stylish.. BUFFOONERY seems to be the name of the game if you are an African American and it makes me shake my head in dismay. Where will we end up in 5 years? Back in even deeper bondage than the mental bondage that we are already in????? you tell me..
